I have been using Wappalyzer for a while now. It’s a little cross-browser and cross-platform plugin that allows you to see what technology a website is using. This comes in handy as a developer in being able to see what content management system a site is using but that is just the beginning. It will tell you what type of web server the CMS is running on.

If you are trying to reverse engineer another developers work it is a quicker and more detailed than viewing HTML source code. The plugin is unobtrusive and is a single button that you click on to reveal the report on the website you are viewing.
